On the southern shore of Baikal

The reserved taiga, relict plants, clean air and aromas of herbs - the Khamar-Daban mountain range, which stretches for 350 km along the southern coast of Baikal, is not by chance called the “Siberian Alps”. You explore this reserved corner of the Baikal nature, each day going on a new adventure.

We suggest you to go to the south of the legendary Lake Baikal. Its central part is occupied by a natural biosphere reserve. Relic taiga forests and alpine meadows, picturesque river valleys and waterfalls - in this part of Baikal, nature has managed to preserve its original beauty.

Day 1. Arrival in Irkutsk

After meeting at the airport, you will be taken to the restaurant for breakfast. Then you are waited by moving to the settlement of Novosnezhnaya. It is located in the foothills of Khamar-Daban, in a picturesque place where the mountain river Snezhnaya flows into Baikal.

You will stay at the hotel and get some rest. If you wish, you can visit the Russian bath or the Japanese phyto-font Furaco. In the evening, you will be served dinner at the hotel’s restaurant, during which you will taste Baikal cuisine.

First, your route will pass along the valley of the Snezhnaya River - the largest and most abundant tributary of the Baikal. You will also visit the unique beach with "pomegranate" sand. Particles of almandine, the hardest type of pomegranate, give such an unusual reddish tint to the sand.

On the shores of Lake Baikal, you have a picnic. Having a little rest and having lunch, you will continue the route and climb on quad bikes to the foot of Mount Mamai. You will go along the forest road along the bank of the Mamai River. By evening, you will return to the hotel, have dinner and rest.

Today, after breakfast, you will climb up the Snezhnaya River on airboats to a place called Strelka. There you will land on the shore and walk on foot to one of the most spectacular waterfalls on the river - Grohotun.

The name of the waterfall speaks for itself: the sound of water falling from a cliff drowns out all other sounds. There are rarely tourists here, so nature has preserved its original beauty. If you wish, you can swim in the cleanest lake at the foot of the waterfall.

On the way back to Strelka you will have a picnic on the bank of the river, and after that you will descend on aeroboat back to the village of Novosnezhnaya. In the evening, you will dine in the hotel’s restaurant and relax.

Day 4. Trekking in the Baikal Reserve

After breakfast, you will go to the village Tankhoi, located on the shores of Lake Baikal. Here you will visit the Baikal Natural Biosphere Reserve. Walking along the hiking trails, you will get acquainted with the unique flora of the reserve, admire the beauty of relict plants and enjoy the aromas of taiga grasses.
